Greetings, Gardeners!

Today we would like to introduce a new feature at Eden Community Gardens:  the Featured Bed of the Week!

Each week, one will be featured on FaceBook and on the Website, with pictures and a brief description of the plot, and a short biography of the gardener(s) responsible for it.

What, you ask, are the criteria by which the FBotW will be judged?  Why, there are many aspects which will be considered.  We are looking for:

  1. Well-tended beds, with plants confined to within 2 ft of the boards;
  2. Weed- and disease-free beds, with lush, healthy growth of the desired produce;
  3. Unique and/or varied plant species;
  4. Beautiful flowers;
  5. Well-labeled plants
  6. Creative support structures and/or decorations
  7. Other inspiration

Initially, FBotWs will be selected by ECG Gardeneers (formerly “Guild of Gardeners”), including Garden Coordinator Barry, or Director MJ, or Member Jill Henderson to name a few.

However, if you spy a particularly worthy bed, you may nominate it yourself.  Simply fill out a Nomination Form with the requested information and place it in the cookie jar located in the Produce Bins adjacent to the shed.   We want to hear from you!

Nominations submitted by Saturday will be considered for the Featured Bed of the following week.

Gardeners of selected FBotW will be contacted for permission, and—hopefully—a little information about their plant choices and their gardening techniques.

So, get out there, look around, see what we can learn  from others, what’s interesting or delicious or creative, that’s growing in Eden Community Gardens.

Then, check in at edencommunitygardens.org or www.facebook.com/edencommunitygardens to find out whose bed will be Featured that week!
