During Lent, we’ve talked about fasting from things that damage creation, feasting on things that bless and promote earth health, learning about how the planet is being altered, and giving to groups actively working to control climate change. This week, consider acting in one new way to protect God’s precious world.
- Find alternative ways to keep used/unwanted goods out of the trash. Even worn items may have another use! Designate a spot to put unneeded items and set a time each month to go through and donate intentionally. Consider swap groups, electronic recycling, “buy nothing” groups, freecycle, Art Salvage, various charities, etc. Not sure who takes what? Ask Terra and we’ll research it!
- Switch all household billing to paperless and unsubscribe to unnecessary mailings.
- Take a weekly walk to pick up trash in your neighborhood or other area that needs it.
- Start composting in a way that works for you: set up a compost bin; put food waste in your green yard waste bin; save food scraps in the freezer to take to a friend’s compost; start a worm bin.
This week’s vegan recipe comes from Jan Kincaid. Thank you, Jan!
